Art of National Geographic presentation set May 7 Titled Inside the Yellow Border: The Art of National Geographic, the talk will treat audience members to a sneak peek of what goes on behind the scenes of the National Geographic art department and will showcase projects that have earned the magazine its long-running reputation for sterling photojournalism. The two featured speakers, Jonathan Blair, National Geographic photographer, and Bert Fox, National Geographic photography editor, have more than 40 years media experience between them. Blairs recent contributions to the magazine include photographs of a long-missing Israeli submarine, closeups of flowering plants and a range of images that accompanied a five-series article on the rise of life on earth. Fox is a five-time winner of the prestigious Magazine Picture Editor of the Year competition, sponsored annually by the University of Missouri. He recently edited the 70-page National Geographic cover story celebrating 50 years on Mount Everest. The free public lecture is sponsored by UDs Department of Fine Arts and Visual Communications.
