Delaware rowing team wins two races at Bucknell 11:46 a.m., April 5, 2004--The University of Delaware rowing team won two races in a dual meet with host Bucknell University on Saturday afternoon in Lewisburg, Pa. The Fightin Blue Hens won the novice eights and second novice eights races and placed second in both the varsity eights A and varsity eights B races. UD won the novice eights in a time of 5:45, defeating Bucknell by nine seconds. The team consisted of Alison Harrington, Rachel Thomas, Nicky Bradley, Elizabeth Martin, Lisa Karwoski, Betsy Seeger, Laura Beaufort, Maria Bellumori and Nikki Jackowsky. In the second novice eights race, UDs team of Nic Suto, Jenn Boutin, Lynn Hamski, Katie Broullire, Stacey Walczak, Laura Belfi, Lindsay Wood, Christina Stanley and Brie Sheppard won in a time of 6:35, 11 seconds better than Bucknell. In the closest race of the day, Bucknell won the varsity eights race in a time of 5:48, barely edging the Hens who finished in 5:48.7. The Delaware team consisted of Carolyn Serey, Andrea Placke, Elizabeth McGarry, Janice Brown, Elizabeth McInturff, Laura McDonald, Dawn Hussnatter, Maureen Gillen and Lane Kohl. Bucknell also won the second varsity eights with a time of 6:10, 10 seconds better than the Hens. The UD team was made up of Nicole Lombardi, Melanie Turner, Lyra Sawzin, Emily McElwain, Elizabeth Harris, Dawnyel Boucek, Jamie Schoenewald, Cathy Savarese and Stephanie Miller.
