Robert F. Wieland
 

Nov. 13, 2003--Robert F. Wieland, 55, died suddenly of lymphoma on Nov. 2 at Christiana Hospital.

Mr. Wieland, who lived in Newark, was a senior research technician I in UD’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering.

A 1974 UD graduate with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, he was employed by the University for 25 years. Before his position in materials science, he worked Network and Systems Services, the Cat Center and the Institute for Energy Conversion.

Mr. Wieland served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps for three years, including one year in Vietnam. He was a member of the New Ark United Church of Christ, the Delaware Astronomical Society and the Delaware Council of the Blind & Visually Impaired. He served on the boards of Brandywine Friends of Old Time Music and Newark Natural Foods.
