UD prof’s composition featured in April 4 recital

3:15 p.m., April 1, 2004--Acclaimed concert pianist Kevin Robert Orr will perform UD professor Jennifer Barker’s composition “Greenyoch Ballant” in a solo performance at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 4, in Loudis Recital Hall of the Amy E. du Pont Music Building.

Orr, who is professor of piano at the University of Florida, regularly performs solo recitals throughout the United States and recently returned from a concert tour of China.

Barker, assistant professor of music, holds a master’s degree in music composition and a doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania. She has won an American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) Award for each of the past four years and is now recording new compositions for her second CD. Her first CD, “Nyvaigs,” was released in April 2000 on the CRI label.

Admission to the concert is $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, and $3 for students. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at the Trabant or Bob Carpenter box offices on the UD campus.
