UD alum Barbara Prugh presents trumpet concert Nov. 2

3:15 p.m., Oct. 29, 2003--Barbara Sauer Prugh, a 1973 graduate of UD’s Department of Music, returns to campus at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 2, to present a concert of solo trumpet repertoire in Bayard Sharp Hall. Pianists Nanette Duea and Julie Nishimura will accompany Prugh.

Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and $3 for students. Tickets will only be available at the door.

A highlight of the concert will be the performance of a new trumpet sonata by composer and trumpet player Robert Bradshaw. The composition is premiering in all 50 U.S. states during November.

The concert progam also includes selections by Albinoni, Marcello, Hummel, Chance, Ravel and others, displaying Prugh's technical virtuosity and musical artistry, as well as the variety of instruments in the trumpet family.

A native of Delaware, Prugh received her music degrees from the University of Delaware and the Eastman School of Music. Prugh has worked as a soloist in conjunction with such artists as Benita Valente and Susan Starr, and conductors Michael Korn, David Hayes, Tom Lloyd, James Freeman, Marc Mostovoy and Sidney Rothstein, among others. She also has recorded and played extensively with The Festive Brass, a popular area-based brass quintet, and is Mannheim Steamroller's featured trumpeter when they come to the Philadelphia area.
