Pool membership sign-up begins May 3

10:47 a.m., April 8, 2004--Stay cool this summer with the hottest ticket in town—a membership in UD’s Outdoor Pool. These popular family and individual memberships have sold out before midseason during the last two summers.

The 2004 season runs from May 30-Aug. 29, plus Labor Day weekend, Sept. 4-6. Beginning May 3, membership applications will be accepted from 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Friday, at the Fred Rust Ice Arena.

Renewal information for 2003 outdoor pool members is now being mailed. New members also will be able to register online at [www.udel.edu/outdoorpool/].

The UD Outdoor Pool, the largest in the state, is located behind the Gold Ice Arena and features slides and a heater that keeps the water temperature comfortable during the early swimming season.

Besides providing a shower and changing facilities, the facility also includes a baby pool, snack bar and deck complete with chaise lounge furniture. Lessons and swim team memberships are available at nominal fees.

Special events for members include free guest day, pool appreciation day, member picnic and visits by YoUDee and Baby Blue at dates and times to be announced.

University employees who wish to pay their pool membership through payroll deductions should visit the Fred Rust Ice Arena to obtain the necessary forms.

For more information, call 831-2868 or visit [www.udel.edu/outdoorpool/].
