New book of poems by UD professor of English

3:22 p.m., June 4, 2004--“A Deed to the Light,” the sixth book of poetry by Jeanne Murray Walker, UD professor of English, has been released by the University of Illinois Press. Details about the book are available online at [www.ADeedToTheLight.com].

Walker’s earlier books of poetry include “Fugitive Angels,” “Coming Into History” and “Nailing Up the Home Sweet Home.” Her poems also have appeared in many anthologies and hundreds of journals, including American Scholar, Atlantic Monthly, Boulevard, the Courtland Review, The Chicago Tribune, Image, The Nation and Partisan Review.

Walker’s awards include the Prairie Schooner-Strousse Prize, seven Pennsylvania Council on the Arts awards, a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship and the Henry Rago Award. An Atlantic Monthly Fellow at the Bread Loaf School of English, Walker was awarded a coveted Pew Fellowship in the Arts in 1998.
