Art exhibition marks Nurses Week

4:45 p.m., May 5, 2004--An upcoming art exhibit, “Celebrating Nursing Through Painting,” will be on display during National Nurses Week, from Thursday, May 6, through Wednesday, May 12, in the third floor nursing lobby and lounge in McDowell Hall.

Showcasing paintings of medically related subject matter, the exhibit is a display of recent works by UD advanced painting students. The juried show will be judged by Janis Tomlinson, director of University Museums, and Robert Davis, vice president of University development and alumni relations. First-, second- and third-place winners will receive $500, $250 and $100 respectively.

The Department of Nursing will host an open house from noon to 4 p.m., on Tuesday, May 11, and President David P. Roselle will present the awards for the winning artwork at approximately 12:20 p.m.

The free show, open house and awards ceremony are all open to the public and are sponsored by the Department of Nursing to mark National Nurses Week. For more information on the exhibit, call the Department of Art at 831-2244. For more information on the Department of Nursing open house, call Lisa Plowfield, Department of Nursing chair, at 831-0655.
