William J. Mooney
 

March 2, 2004--William J. Mooney, 76, who earned his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at UD in 1950, died June 18, 2003.

Born in Wilmington, Mr. Mooney was graduated from P.S. du Pont High School in 1945 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

After graduating from UD, he joined the DuPont Co., where he retired as project engineer in 1986 after 36 years of service.

Mr. Mooney was a history buff and maintained a keen interest in current events and world politics. He enjoyed reading and traveling and liked to follow sports. He most enjoyed the time he spent with his family. He was active in local politics in the 1960s.

After his retirement, he was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. A longtime member of the Pike Creek Valley Lions Club, he received an Honorary Faithful Service Award in 2001.
