MBA case competition winners named

Michael Levey, Jeff Schnug and Patrick Smale
3:06 p.m., Dec. 8, 2003--The winning team in this year’s MBA SUCCESS Case Competition consisted of MBA students Michael Levey, Patrick Smale and Jeff Schnug. They placed first among four teams in the final round of competition, held Nov. 21 in Alfred Lerner Hall.

In addition to first-place honors, the team won the “Company Executives Choice Award” from Southwest Airlines, the company that was the subject of the business case the teams analyzed for the competition. The team was awarded a $2,000 cash prize and free Southwest tickets.

The other MBA students who prevailed in preliminary rounds of the competition to make it to the finals were Rusty Booth, Bradley Moore, Amith Nikam and Eric Pusey; Phil Oyerly, Dorothea Thomas and Divya Tandon; and Derek Danilson, Robert Hart, Philip Howard and Suzanne Miller. The three finalist teams each won $500.

Judging the finals were corporate executives Peter Lankau of Endo Pharmaceuticals, Alexander Giacco of Axess Corp., Bill Frame of Ballymore Co., Robert Matarese of Wilmington Trust and Karen Price-Ward and Michael Miller, both of Southwest Airlines.
