Hundreds join MBA 50th anniversary celebration
The evening reception was the highlight of a series of activities throughout this academic year to celebrate the programs longevity, its quality and growth, the continuous changes to remain contemporary and the professional success of alumni. About 300 people, including two from Turkey, mingled in the Chaplin Tyler Atrium, heard a speech by Michael J. Ginzberg, dean of the Lerner College of Business and Economics, and watched video snapshots of the history of the program and the construction of Alfred Lerner Hall. We had a fantastic time, Robert B. Barker, director of the MBA program, said. Dean Ginzberg was elated with the turnout and the overall program. Ginzberg also introduced the Lerner Fabulous 50, alumni selected for their outstanding contributions to their organizations and communities. Among the guests were Robert L. Johnson, UDs first MBA recipient from the Class of 1955, and current MBA students who are graduating this May. The celebration included a door raffle whose prize, a football autographed by UDs head football coach K.C. Keeler, went to alumna Meridith Wilkes, EG 95, BE 01MBA, of J.P. Morgan Chase. One of the Fabulous 50, Delawares U.S. Sen. Thomas R. Carper, 75, gave a vote of thanks, recognized retired faculty and gave credit to the program for his success in public service. That was a wonderful conclusion to the evening, Barker said. Festivities continue today with an alumni brunch and networking forum and a walking campus tour. UDs MBA program has more than 2,600 graduates throughout the U.S. and 39 other countries. Article by Martin Mbugua To learn how to subscribe to UDaily, click here. |
