Liberty Day celebration offers fun and fireworks

2:55 p.m., July 1, 2003--Celebrate the Fourth of July at Newark’s “Liberty Day” festivities from 4-9 p.m., at the UD Athletic Complex. Parking is available on campus and in DaimlerChrysler parking lot number 2.

The free event features food, crafts, community information and entertainment, with the Cole Younger Band, Brittany Baldwin, the Newark Community Band and the Honeycombs.

The children’s area will offer games of skill and chance, inflatable activities, with performers Mr. Skip, the Juggling Hoffmans, Lois Young and Miss Vicky on the Children’s Stage.

Liberty Day will culminate in a fireworks display at dusk.

Because of the heat and large number of people expected, pet owners are asked to leave their pets at home for their safety and the safety of those attending Liberty Day.

The rain date is July 5. For cancellation information, please call 366-7147.
