UD ranked in Entrepreneur magazine’s Top 100

3:39 p.m., May 4, 2004--For the second consecutive year, the University of Delaware’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics has been named one of the nation’s top 100 entrepreneurial colleges and universities by Entrepreneur magazine.

More than 825 entrepreneurship programs were researched for the magazine’s second annual listing, which appears in the May 2004 issue.

"Lerner College recognizes the importance of developing new ventures, both as part of existing organizations and as independent businesses,” Dean Michael Ginzberg said. “We continue to expand our offerings in the entrepreneurship area to assure that our students have the opportunity to learn about and to experience new venture development."

Lerner College offers a variety of entrepreneurship courses and programs, including a graduate program for teachers in the Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship, a new venture creation concentration for MBA students, undergraduate courses in small business management and the opportunity for students to work on real projects with the Delaware Small Business Development Center.

Entrepreneur magazine’s second annual evaluation was conducted by TechKnowledge Point Corp., a venture research firm. The rankings are based on more than 70 separate criteria, including course offerings, teaching and research faculty, business-community outreaches, research centers and institutes, degrees and certificates offered, and faculty and alumni evaluations.
