Reception honors legislative fellows

UD’s 2003 legislative fellows met with Gov. Ruth Ann Minner at the end of their tour of duty. Present at the meeting were (seated from left) Jerome R. Lewis, director of the Institute for Public Administration; Gov. Minner; Lisa Moreland, fellows program coordinator; (standing from left) fellows Stacy Savickas; Aryah Fradkin; Amy Lazor; John Trochimowicz; William Fasano; Melanie Ross; Sarah Hench; William Clark; Janna Craig; Frank Mieczkowski; and fellows program coordinator Bernard Dworsky.

3:10 p.m., July 8, 2003--UD legislative fellows ended Delaware’s legislative session with meetings with President of the Senate Pro Tem Thurman Adams, Speaker of the House Terry Spence and Gov. Ruth Ann Minner. After the meetings, a reception was held honoring the fellows and celebrating the 21st anniversary of the program, which was begun in 1982 by Jerome Lewis, director of the Institute for Public Administration in the College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy.

At the reception, the administrative assistants who supervised the fellows spoke briefly on each fellow’s work during the year. Representing UD at the event were Lewis; Rick Armitage, director of government relations; and Lisa Moreland and Bernard Dworsky, who coordinated this year’s program.

Legislative fellows serve the majority and minority caucuses in both the house and senate. They carry out research and help to craft bills in areas ranging from the environment and education to finance and economics.

Fellows are William Clark, Janna Craig, William Fasano, Aryah Fradkin, Sarah Hench, Amy Lazor, Frank Mieczkowski, Melanie Ross, Stacy Savickas and John Trochimowicz.
