James Richards to deliver named professor lecture
His topic will be Figure Skating: A Collision of Convention and Change. The director of the Biomechanics Laboratory and former director of the Interdisciplinary Program in Biomechanics and Movement Science, Richards conducts research on sport biomechanics and also rehabilitation biomechanics in conjunction with Freeman Miller at the A.I. du Pont Hospital for Children and Jian Q. Sun, professor of mechanical engineering. Richards holds a bachelors degree from the University of Connecticut, a masters degree from UD and a doctoral degree from Indiana University. He served as a teaching assistant at UD from 1976-1978 and joined the faculty in 1980. The talk is free and open to the public, but reservations are requested.
