Land & Sea lectures set Fridays in February 2:10 p.m., Jan. 27, 2004--The Land and Sea Lecture Series, a month-long program featuring talks by members of the University of Delaware faculty, will be held each Friday in February at 10 a.m. in Lewes and again at 2 p.m. in Seaford. Now in its 19th year, the series, which is sponsored by the Office of Alumni & University Relations, features four lectures on topics ranging from the war in Iraq to Delawares shifting demographics. Opening the series on Friday, Feb. 6, Laurence Seidman, Chaplin Tyler Professor of Economics, will discuss the national health insurance crisis in a lecture titled Government Policies Affecting Health Insurance: Which Should be Preserved and Which Replaced? On Friday, Feb. 13, Rudolph Matthee, associate professor of history, will address the complexities of Iranian politics in his lecture Irans Revolution After 25 Years: Time for a New One? On Friday, Feb. 20, Ralph Begleiter, Rosenberg Professor of Communication and distinguished journalist in residence, will further explore the turmoil in the Middle East in his lecture War in Iraq: American Perception Versus World Views. Capping the series on Friday, Feb. 27, Ed Ratledge, director of the Center for Applied Demography and Survey Research, will look to the future in a lecture titled Delaware Demographic Changes and Challenges 2000-2030. Each lecture will be offered at 10 a.m. at the Virden Center at the Hugh R. Sharp campus, 700 Pilottown Rd., Lewes; and again at 2 p.m. in the auditorium of the Methodist Manor House, 1001 Middleford Rd., Seaford. All the lectures are free and open to the public.
