11:15 a.m., Nov. 7, 2003--A roundup of recent news items about UD, its faculty, students, staff and alumni.

Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, is quoted in a Nov. 6 Albany Times Union story about the appointment of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute President Shirley Ann Jackson to the new board of directors overseeing the New York Stock Exchange. Elson questions the fact that Jackson already serves on seven boards, telling the newspaper, "She's a wonderful person, she's bright, she's affable, but what, I think, most governance people would tell you: that's much too many boards. The time commitments that each of those would entail would add up to more hours than there are in the day."
