3:50 p.m., Feb. 2, 2004--A roundup of recent news items about UD, its faculty, students, staff and alumni.

Joseph Pika, UD professor of political science, is quoted in a Jan. 31 Baltimore Sun story concerning the Delaware Democratic primary. "It'll be a tug of war between the attractiveness of Kerry's juggernaut and the more moderate views of Lieberman that are consistent with Delaware tradition," Pika told the Sun.

Roberta Golinkoff, H. Rodney Sharp Chair, is featured in a Jan. 30 Wilmington News Journal story about the value of play. The story centers on material from her new book, which is titled “Einstein Never Used Flash Cards.”

Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, is quoted in a Feb. 1 CFO Magazine story about corporate governance issues post-Enron. "These reforms represent a sea change for CFOs," Elson said. "Whereas the CFO and the audit committee of the board once worked together collegially, it has now become an oversight relationship, with power moving to the audit committee."
