Joseph Pika, UD professor of political science, is quoted in the Jan. 29 issue of The New York Times concerning the Delaware Democratic primary. Although Joseph Lieberman has won several key endorsements in the state, Pika said he will face a tough fight against national front-runner John Kerry. "The biggest challenge for Lieberman is the big bounce from the victories by Kerry," Pika told the Times. "I'm not so sure Lieberman's organization can do enough to overcome Kerry." ALUMNI Bob Slowik, former UD football player, has been named defensive coordinator of the NFL's Green Bay Packers. Martin Abraham, who holds a doctorate in chemical engineering from UD, has been named dean of the University of Toledo graduate school.
