Industrial R & D focus of March 9 lecture 10:31 a.m., March 5, 2004--Historian and UD alumnus David Hounshell, of Carnegie Mellon University, will discuss “Industrial Research and Development as a Problem in the U.S. History of Science, Technology and Business, 1875-2000,” at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 9, in 203 Munroe Hall, as part of the History Workshop in Technology, Society and Culture lecture series. The lecture is free and open to the public. Hounshell is David M. Roderick Professor of Technology and Social Change at Carnegie Mellon University and is a member of the departments of history, social and decision sciences and engineering and public policy. He is completing his second year as president of the Society for the History of Technology. He received his master’s and doctoral degrees in history from UD in 1975 and 1978, respectively, and was a member of UD’s history faculty from 1979-91.
