Blue Hen golf team 15th in Navy Invitational

11:44 a.m., April 5, 2004--The University of Delaware golf team finished 15th in the U.S. Naval Academy Spring Gold Invitational completed Sunday at the Naval Academy Golf Club in Annapolis.

Johnson and Wales won the championship over the 23-team field with a score of 603, six strokes better than runners-up Loyola and Towson.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens shot a 633.

UD freshman Steve Banks enjoyed his highest collegiate finish as he shot a 76 Saturday and a 75 Sunday to finish in a tie for ninth place with a 36-hole score of 151.

Also for the Hens, freshman Joe McLister finished 30th at 156, junior Dan Spiker 70th at 162, sophomore Devin Milowe 88th at 165 and freshman Tyler Kupper 110th at 175.

Binghamton's Joe Kunz took medalist honors with a one-over par score of 143. His score was one stroke better than Towson's Billy Wingard.

UD will continue action Friday and Saturday, April 9-10, at the Lafayette College Spring Invitational at Center Valley (Pa.) Country Club.
