9:45 a.m., March 24, 2004--Freshman Joe McLister shot a three over par 74 on both Monday and Tuesday to place seventh overall as the University of Delaware golf team opened the spring season with a 17th-place finish at the College of William & Mary Invitational held at the Kingsmill Resort River Course in Williamsburg, Va.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens shot a team score of 316 in Monday's first round and improved to 311 on Tuesday to finish at 627, one stroke shy of 16th place. The 20-team field included some of the top programs in the East.

Georgetown won the team title with a score of 589, followed by Richmond (592), Old Dominion (602), George Washington (605) and James Madison (606).

In addition to McLister, UD’s Dan Spiker finished 46th (156), Steve Banks 73rd (160), Devin Milowe 87th (163) and Matt Grobstein 110th (172).

Billy Hurley of the U.S. Naval Academy, ranked 31st in NCAA Division I, captured the individual title by shooting 141 to win by one shot over Old Dominion's Greg Sampson. Hurley's score of 66 Tuesday included an eagle and three birdies.
