‘Go for the Gold’ fitness deadline is June 25

2:21 p.m., June 3, 2004--Registration is now underway for the Employee Wellness Center’s “Go for the Gold” summer aerobics fitness program. The grand prize is a free weekend at the Virden Center in Lewes, donated by UD Conference Services.

Cost is 10 Wellness Dollars from the 2004-05 academic year allocation. (Each full-time employee receives 50 Wellness Dollars on July 1.) Those who register by June 18 will be entered in a drawing for a free individual season pass to the UD outdoor pool. The registration deadline is June 25 for the summer fitness challenge, which runs from July 11-Aug. 21.

Weekly prizes of fitness merchandise from local vendors and fitness services from the Employee Wellness Center also will be awarded.

Those who complete the program by being aerobically active at least five days a week will win a sports wallet wristband and be eligible for the grand prize drawing.

Participants record the number of minutes of aerobic exercise they do each day. A new online log will be available for those who wish to record their progress by computer.

Each week participants will receive an e-mail with fitness tips and highlights about cities that have hosted previous Olympic Summer Games. For more information, visit [www.udel.edu/wellness] or call 831-8388.
