Allison Funk poetry reading set for Oct. 13

10:24 a.m., Oct. 10, 2003--Allison Funk, poet and professor of English at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, will read from her latest works at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 13, in 127 Memorial Hall.

Books by Funk include: “The Knot Garden” (2002), “Living at the Epicenter” (1995) and “Forms of Conversion” (1986). Her work has been included in “Best American Poetry, 1994,” as well as such journals as Poetry, Paris Review, Georgia Review, Iowa Review and Shenandoah.

Funk’s honors include a National Endowment for the Arts award and awards from the Arts Councils of Delaware and Illinois. Funk also has received the George Kent Prize from Poetry magazine, the Celia B. Wagner Prize from the Poetry Society of America and the 1995 Award for Poetry from the Society of Midland Authors.

In addition to teaching creative writing, contemporary American poetry, American poetry, modern British and American literature, Funk also is poetry co-editor of Sou’wester, a literary magazine.
