Delaware field hockey team is No. 17 in national poll

10:20 a.m., Nov. 4, 2003--The University of Delaware field hockey team has edged up one spot to No. 17 in the STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association NCAA Division I poll released Tuesday.
The Fightin’ Blue Hens, who are on a three-game winning streak entering the Colonial Athletic Association tournament this weekend, swapped spots with No. 18 Boston College.

UD is one of three CAA teams ranked in the top 20. Old Dominion University is No. 8 and the College of William & Mary is No. 14.

Wake Forest University is ranked No. 1, followed in the top 10 by Duke, Maryland, North Carolina, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Old Dominion, Northeastern and Connecticut.

UD finished the regular season with a record of 13-6, which includes a 4-3 victory over Northeastern.

The Hens will face William & Mary in a conference tournament semifinal game on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va. In the other conference semifinal, host Old Dominion will take on Virginia Commonwealth University.
