Breault, Carr goals lift UD field hockey team

10:53 a.m., Sept. 25, 2003--The No. 15 University of Delaware field hockey team won its fourth straight game by defeating Temple University 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon in Philadelphia.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens raised their record to 7-2 and avenged last year’s loss to Temple at Rullo Stadium.

UD junior Lauren Carr opened the scoring by taking a pass from senior tri-captain Jessica Breault and drilling a shot past Temple goalkeeper Erin Conroy.

Breault made it 2-0 when she scored off a feed from freshman Katie Evans.

Temple’s Rachel Barber scored with under four minutes but the UD defense held fast. The Hens limited Temple to just four shots in the game, and UD freshman goalkeeper Megan Allen made two saves.

Delaware will return to action against LaSalle University at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Rullo Stadium.
