UD football No. 6, No. 7 in Division I-AA polls

9:50 a.m., Sept. 23, 2003--The University of Delaware football team continues to advance in NCAA Division I-AA polls, with the Fightin’ Blue Hens ranked No. 6 in the USA Today/ESPN poll and No. 7 in the Sports Network’s NCAA Division I-AA poll.

The Hens, 3-0 and averaging more than 40 points per game, moved up two places in the USA Today/ESPN poll and received one first-place vote.

In that poll, McNeese State is ranked No. 1, followed by Western Illinois, Western Kentucky, Northeastern, Villanova, Delaware, Bethune-Cookman, Furman, Montana and Massachusetts.

The Hens moved up one spot in the Sports Network poll. In that poll, McNeese State is ranked No. 1, followed by Western Illinois, Western Kentucky, Northeastern, Villanova, Bethune-Cookman, Delaware, Furman, Montana and Massachusetts.

UD is one of four Atlantic 10 Football Conference teams in the top 10 in both polls, joining Northeastern (4-0), Villanova (3-0) and UMass (2-1).
