Research essay competition open to undergrads

4:45 p.m., March 31, 2004--Phi Kappa Phi, a national honor society whose goal is the recognition and encouragement of scholarship in all academic disciplines has announced its 21st annual University of Delaware Undergraduate Research Essay Competition.

The competition is open to all UD undergraduates. Essays must report on completed research results for a general, educated audience and be submitted by Monday, April 19, to the Undergraduate Research Program, 188 Orchard Rd. Up to two $500 awards will be made and announced by April 30. Winners will present brief talks on their research essays at the Phi Kappa Phi initiation banquet, Friday, May 7.

The oldest and largest honorary society in the nation, Phi Kappa Phi was founded at the University of Maine in 1897 and established at UD in l905.
