Discussion of poverty and water in Ghana set Feb. 26

2:41 p.m., Feb. 25, 2004--A colloquium on the purification of Ghana’s Volta River is set for noon-1:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 26, in the Ewing Room of the Perkins Student Center.

“Come Poverty and High Water: The Commodification of Ghana’s Volta River,” features a lecture by Lawrence Agbemabiese, a program officer at the United Nations Division of Technology, Industry, and Economics who is a UD alumnus.

Agbemabiese earned his doctorate at UD’s Center for Energy and Environmental Policy, will cover energy and development policy, technology transfer and capacity building to promote small and medium energy enterprises in developing countries. He works with nongovernmental organizations and small business operators to identify and implement innovative and sustainable models of energy service delivery targeting rural and peri-urban communities.

Sponsored by the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy, the Graduate Program in Environmental and Energy Policy and College of Human Services, Education, and Public Policy, the colloquium is free. Lunch will be provided, and pre-registration is highly recommended. For more information, call Terri Brower at 831-8405.
