Employee Wellness Center offers diabetes testing Aug. 21

4:20 p.m., July 31, 2003--Undiagnosed diabetes is serious problem in Delaware.

Marianne Carter, director of UD’S Employee Wellness Center, said anyone who is overweight or has a family history of diabetes could be at risk. “Unfortunately, many people are walking around with it and don’t even know it.”

The Wellness Center is offering diabetes testing from 9:30-11:30 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 21, in 125 Memorial Hall.

No fasting is required. The test takes less than five minutes and results are immediate. It’s a quick finger-stick test to determine your blood-sugar level. Individuals with a reading greater than 140mg/dl will be referred to their doctor for further testing.

The cost is 10 Wellness dollars. Full-time employees receive 50 Wellness dollars to use from July 1-June 30, 2004.

Call 831-8388 to register for a five-minute appointment.
