UD students take top apparel design awards

Senior Kimberly Moore displays her award-winning dress design.
3:26 p.m., May 26, 2004--University of Delaware consumer studies students were among the finalists at two international apparel design competitions in 2003.

Kimberly Moore and Kyoko Wakamatsu were among the 10 finalists representing the U.S. at the international Air France design competition in Paris in December. Moore was awarded the Best of the U.S. award at the Paris competition. Erin Lassahn and Kristin Panzone also competed in the preliminaries to the Paris competition and were named semi-finalists.

Four other UD students were among the finalists in the International Textile and Apparel Association Student Design Competition in Savannah, Ga., in November—Trisha Breault, Melissa Biczak, Bethany Meuleners and Kristin Panzone.

“I think these students are indicative of the outstanding talents and skills of our apparel design majors and have represented the University of Delaware very well both here and abroad,’’ Mary Jo Kallal, professor of consumer studies, said.
