UD student fondled

12 p.m., April 19, 2004--Newark Police are investigating the fondling of a 22-year-old UD student that occurred around 10:15 p.m., Sunday, April 18, in the 2400 block of Scholar Drive.

The student was walking across the parking lot when she began to be followed by a man, who is described as 5’8”-5’10” tall, 170-200 pounds, wearing a blue baseball cap, gray T-shirt, blue jeans and round glasses.

He approached, lifted her skirt and grabbed her buttocks. She screamed, and others in the area then scared off the suspect, who ran away. The student was not injured.

Anyone with information should contact Det. Bryda at 366-7110, ext. 132, or call Delaware Crimestoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.

Students are advised to walk in groups during late-night hours and should always be aware of their surroundings. Additional safety tips can be found at [www.udel.edu/PublicSafety/safetytips.htm].
