Cholesterol screenings offered Sept. 17, 22, 24

9:00 a.m., Sep. 4, 2003--Heart disease affects millions of Americans, and high cholesterol puts individuals at risk for a heart attack or stroke. UD’s Employee Wellness Center will host three cholesterol screenings at various locations during September, National Cholesterol Education Month, for employees and retirees who want to know their cholesterol numbers.

The test, which requires a simple finger stick, takes about 10 minutes and does not require fasting. Test results provide total cholesterol, HDL (good cholesterol) levels and risk ratio within five minutes. The cost is $10 Wellness Dollars, plus a $5 copayment.

Screenings are scheduled:

  • Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., in 233 Townsend Hall
  • Monday, Sept. 22, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., in 011 Smith Hall
  • Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., in 310 Gore Hall

Call 831-8388 to schedule a 15-minute appointment.

Lifestyle changes such as following a low-fat diet and being physically active can help keep cholesterol levels within a healthy range. For more information, visit [www.udel.edu/wellness].
