Charter bus reservation procedures revised

12:25 p.m., Aug. 13, 2003--The University’s new 47-passenger coach bus—emblazoned in blue and gold with UD’s mascot YoUDee—gives UD academic, administrative, athletic and activity groups a new way of getting to off-campus events and outings.

English Language Institute students were the first group to use UD’s coach bus for an Aug. 1 trip to Hershey, Pa.

Delaware Express Shuttle operates the new coach bus and will provide additional buses as needed under contract with the University, according to Burt Wilson, senior buyer, Procurement Services. The design on the new bus was created by Keith Heckert, art director in the Office of Public Relations.

The contract provides for discounts to the University on all coach bus reservations.

Revised reservation procedures
Effective immediately, all bus reservations for University-sponsored events must be made by calling Transportation Services at 831-1187. The FIN Requisition/Vendor Payment Request form should no longer be used for charter bus reservations, and departments should not contact Delaware Express Shuttle directly. All reservations already submitted using the old purchase requisition will be processed by Transportation Services.

Personal travel discount
An 8 percent discount on shuttle and charter services from Delaware Express Shuttle to all UD employees and students for both University business travel and personal travel.

Reservations for personal Delaware Express Shuttle trips and bus charters can be made at the discounted rate through University Travel. A University ID card will be required at pick-up to be eligible for the discount. Travelers must identify themselves as a University employee or student when making the reservation to receive the discount.

For more information, call Transportation Services at 831-1187 or Procurement Services at 831-2161.
