Donald R. Brunner
 

March 17, 2004--Donald R. Brunner, 61, of Greenville, died March 11 at home.

He graduated from the University of Delaware in 1966 with a degree in accounting. In 1993, he received the Alumni Award of Excellence from UD’s College of Business and Economics, and in 1997, he was inducted into the University of Delaware Wall of Fame. He also served on UD’s Board of Trustees and was a past chairman of the College of Business and Economics Visiting Committee. He also served as a member of the University’s Audit Committee.

Mr. Brunner began his accounting career with Price Waterhouse in New York and then had a 25-year career with J.P. Morgan & Co., serving as senior vice president. At the time of his death, he was senior vice president and trust officer at Tiedemann Trust Co.

He served on the executive board of the Del-Mar-Va Council of Boy Scouts of America and was past president of Delaware Bankers Association, past president of the Delaware Chapter of the Financial Executive Institute and a member of the board of Cancer Care Connection.

He served on the boards of Oncology Care, Freedoms Foundation and Spirit Center.

An avid golfer, Mr. Brunner was a member of the Wilmington Country Club and Kings Creek Country Club, and he served on the board of advisers of each.

Mr. Brunner is survived by his wife, Judy Wells Brunner; his children, Patrick Brunner of Wilmington, Laura Brunner of Newark and Tracy Schwartz and her husband, Adam, of Bethesda, Md.; and his granddaughter, Samantha Schwartz.
