UD students encouraged to submit Bright Ideas
3:10 p.m., Nov. 13, 2003--The University of Delaware has launched a student campaign to encourage them to share innovative ideas and voice suggestions for improvements on campus.
The student Bright Ideas campaign stemmed naturally from the parallel initiative for UD staff and faculty that was launched in November 2002. Students had also expressed the desire to make suggestions.
Bright Ideas for Students grew from the Bright Ideas for faculty and staff [initiative], Marilyn Prime, director of student centers, said. A few students had inquired about it last year, and although students have a number of ways to voice their opinions, this forum gives them a way to directly submit ideas.
Prime added that the Bright Ideas for Students program will be promoted through student organizations, the student events web site and the Just UDo It! campaign. A committee of student leaders and Campus Life personnel also is being assembled to judge submissions and determine cash rewards for exemplary ideas.
The Bright Ideas for Students campaign is a great thing to do for students and the campus, Prime said. As we know, students are very tech-savvy, so this fits their preferred mode of communication. It also keeps the University aware of student priorities and attitudes.
To submit ideas, students should visit the UDaily homepage at [www.udel.edu/udaily/index.html] and click on the student Bright Ideas link at the bottom left corner of the page. Submissions will be reviewed and then forwarded for consideration to the appropriate departments.
