State allocation provides one-time bonus for UD employees

5:58 p.m., June 27, 2004--In keeping with University of Delaware tradition, all regular employees will receive one-time bonuses under a state of Delaware $1.1 million appropriation, Maxine Colm, vice president for administration, announced today.

The amount appropriated by the state is based on the number of the University employees who are paid with state funds—a number totaling about 1,575, or 41 percent of UD’s approximately 3,800 employees.

The dollars allocated by the state will be distributed to all regular employees who were on UD’s payroll as of May 14, based on their salaries on that date.

Colm said the bonuses will be $1,000 for employees with a base salary under $20,000, $600 for employees with a base salary between $20,000 and $25,000 and $252 for employees whose base salary is more than $25,000.

Employees who are paid bi-weekly will receive the bonus in their checks on July 23, Colm said, and those who are paid semi-monthly, will see the bonus in their checks on July 30.

Certain administrative officers will not receive the bonus payment. Miscellaneous wage and student employees also are not eligible.

“This plan fully distributes the $1,111,200 provided by the state to our employees,” Colm said, “and UD has provided more than $200,000 in additional funds for the employer contribution to retirement plans and Social Security.”
