Blue & Gold Club features festive holiday menu

2:08 p.m., Dec. 9, 2003--UD’s Blue & Gold Club is celebrating the holiday season by offering a variety of menu options that include a Thursday evening festive feast featuring traditional seasonal fare, as well as a Saturday lunch that includes a visit from Jolly Old St. Nick.

The “Feast of Festive Finery,” scheduled from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 11, offers a holiday menu of roast turkey and baked ham, as well as assorted holiday pies. Prices are $16.50 for adults and $8.95 for children ages 5-11.

For the same prices, patrons can enjoy a “Family Holiday Lunch” from noon-2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 20, that includes seasonal mixed greens and toasted pecans served with a cranberry vinaigrette, matzo ball soup, beef brisket and gravy and assorted holiday pies and treats. And last, but certainly not least in the eyes of the youngsters, is a special visit from Santa Claus.

“Wild Game Specials,” including such seasonal favorites as roast loin of venison, stuffed quail, pheasant pompadour and hunter’s pie, also are available each weekend throughout the winter.

The Blue & Gold Club also offers an “On the Go!” menu. Phone in an order by 2 p.m. and pick it up, packed and ready to go, later that day.

For custom-baked treats for holiday entertaining, orders must be placed by Wednesday, Dec. 17, for pick up on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 22-23.

Winter hours are 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, and 5-8 p.m., Thursday-Saturday. Complimentary hors d’ oeuvres are featured Fridays from 4:30-6 p.m. in the Tavern, where dinner is served from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday.

Reservations are recommended for all special events. For more information, including individual pricing, visit [http://www.udel.edu/BGClub/] or call 831-2582.
