Delaware's Salvo part of Roberto Alomar deal

11:10 a.m., July 3, 2003--Former University of Delaware baseball player Andrew Salvo was included in a four-player deal that sent second baseman Roberto Alomar from the New York Mets to the Chicago White Sox.

In return for Alomar, the Mets got Salvo, who plays middle infield, and pitchers Royce Ring and Edwin Almonte.

Salvo, a 22nd-round pick in the 2001 draft, will report to the Capital City Bombers of the Class A South Atlantic League, where he had been playing for the White Sox farm team in Kannapolis. He was hitting .235 with a homer and six RBIs in 37 games. The Capital City franchise plays in Columbia, S.C.
