Blue Hen baseball team hosts Virginia Commonwealth

9:03 a.m., May 21, 2004--The University of Delaware has clinched a berth in next week’s Colonial Athletic Association championship tournament and will be playing for a favorable seed in a three-game series against Virginia Commonwealth University this weekend at Bob Hannah Stadium.

Game times are 3 p.m., today, and 1 p.m., both Saturday and Sunday.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens enter the series with a record of 28-21 overall and 10-10 in the CAA, where they are in sixth place. Virginia Commonwealth is 32-20 overall and 13-8 in the conference, where they are in third place.

Six teams will compete in the tournament, which will be held from Wednesday, May 26, to Saturday, May 29, at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and all six seeds remain to be determined by games to be played this weekend.

The six teams in the field are George Mason, which is currently in first place, UNC Wilmington, Virginia Commonwealth, Old Dominion, William and Mary and UD.
