Two arrested for robbing UD student 12:04 p.m., April 19, 2004--A man and a teenager were arrested by the Newark Police on Saturday, April 17, after robbing a UD student earlier in the day in front of 329 East Main St. The student was walking near his apartment when he was approached by the two suspects on bicycles. They pointed a handgun at him and demanded his money. The student gave them his money, and they fled. The student was not injured. Police searched the area and located the teenager at the McDonalds on East Main Street. The second suspect was seen by police in the area of Terrace Drive, and after a foot chase, he was captured in the middle of White Clay Creek. The teenager, of Terrace Drive in Newark, was charged with first degree robbery, conspiracy and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and he was committed to Juvenile Detention in lieu of $20,500 secured bail. Jerome A. Carter, 21, of West 27th Street, Wilmington, was charged with first degree robbery, conspiracy, possession of firearm during the commission of a felony, criminal impersonation and resisting arrest, and he was committed to the Young Correctional Facility in lieu of $66,500 secured bail.
