Air quality forum at UD Nov. 6
11:30 a.m., Nov. 5, 2003--Daniel A. Lashoff, science director for the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) Climate Change Center, keynotes the Delaware Air Quality Forum from 2:30-8:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 6, at Clayton Hall on the Laird campus. NRDC is one of the nation's largest environmental action organizations, with more than 1 million members and online activists.
Forum topics include how Delawares clean air efforts compare to other states; clean air industry opportunities; an overview of the states air quality program; ozone and pollution emissions; human health impacts; and pending state and national clean air legislation.
Speakers representing U.S. Sens. Tom Carper and Joe Biden and U.S. Rep. Michael Castle will participate in a panel discussion on federal clean air legislation along with representatives of W.L. Gore, the Sierra Club and the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.
The event is sponsored by the Delaware Nature Society, Sierra Club Delaware Chapter, Clean Air Council, American Lung Association, Delaware League of Women Voters, Natural Resources Defense Council, Students for the Environment and UDs Center for Energy and Environmental Policy.
