United Way CEO opens spring Chaplin Tyler lectures

9:11 a.m., March 30, 2004--Charles Anderson, CEO of the United Way of the National Capital Area, formerly president of the United Way of Delaware, opens UD’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics 2004 Chaplin Tyler Executive Leadership Series, at 3 p.m., Friday, April 16, in the Chaplin Tyler Atrium in Alfred Lerner Hall.

Anderson, who has worked for the United Way for 25 years has served in top-level positions since 1977, including eight years with the United Way of Delaware.

John W. Himes, senior vice president of corporate strategy for DuPont, gives the second executive leadership series lecture at 3 p.m., Friday, May 14.

Himes joined DuPont in 1966 in the marketing section of the textile fibers department and advanced to head Dacron polyesters and then advanced composites. In 1988, he was made vice president of human resources and later became vice president of business development in the Asian Pacific. Before assuming his current position, Himes was named vice president for investor relations, then a member of the company’s operating group.

The lectures are free and open to the public.
