Students urged to conserve water

Aug. 26, 2002—University of Delaware students returning to campus will be greeted with a flier urging them to help conserve water.

Informing students that northern Delaware is in a drought emergency, the flier reminds students to report any leaks immediately. It also offers several easy ways to conserve water, such as taking shorter showers, turning off the water while shaving or brushing teeth, and reducing the number of plates and glasses for food and beverages by putting more on a plate and refilling the same glass.

Students also are reminded that grills at tailgating parties are prohibited and that cigarettes should be extinguished in designated receptacles.

The flier also informs students that UD has implemented a number of water-saving efforts across the campus.
