Recital 'To Spain and Beyond' March 23

Mezzosoprano Joyce Tannian, a Newark native, and soprano Elisabeth Commanday will be featured in a free vocal recital at 8 p.m., Saturday, March 23, in Bayard Sharp Hall. They will be accompanied by pianist Jorge Parodi, a faculty member of the Juilliard School.

The recital, entitled “To Spain and Beyond,” will include duets from Robert Schumann’s “Spanisches Liederspiel” and Manuel de Falla’s “Siete Canciones Populares Espanolas,” and selections from Hugo Wolf’s “Italienisches Liederbuch” and John Corigliano’s “Irish Folksongs.” There will be a selection of opera duets and art songs, as well.

Admission is free, and free-will offerings are welcome.

Tannian is the daughter of retired UD faculty member Francis X. Tannian.
