New skating programs for 2002 at UDInstructional ice hockey and community ice skating classes will begin in January at the University of Delawares Fred Rust Ice Arena, Route 896, Newark, and continue for eight weeks. The instructional hockey program meets every Saturday, starting Jan. 12. It is directed by Josh Brandwene, head club ice hockey coach at UD. There is a low instructor-to-player ratio. Cost for the program, including a jersey, is $125 for the first player and $115 for each additional family member. The community class (ISI) learn to skate program meets on Saturday mornings and Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, starting Jan. 5. The classes are for all ages and levels of skating ability. Instructors include skaters and coaches from UDs Ice Skating Science Development Center. Cost is $85 for the first individual and $80 for each additional family member. Parents may join their skater for practice time by registering for the $25 Parent Skate. Fees are for registrations received prior to Dec. 30.
