UD professor's student to attend Interlochen Arts Camp

June 7, 2002--Emily DiAngelo, 16, of Townsend, a student of University of Delaware music professor Lloyd Shorter, will attend the Interlochen Arts Camp, the first and foremost summer arts program for youth in the United States, as the 2002 Emerson Music Scholar for Delaware.

The scholarship, sponsored by the Emerson Electric Co., is awarded to one person from each state and is based on merit.

Emily, the daughter of Gerald and Sarah DiAngelo of Townsend, will study music for eight weeks at the camp, which in 2002 celebrates its 75th summer of pioneering arts education. She plays oboe and sings, and was named to the All-State Band and the All-State Chorus.
