Rising sea topic of lecture March 6

Orrin H. Pilkey, James B. Duke Professor of Earth Sciences at Duke University, will present a seminar at 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, in 214 Brown Laboratory. The lecture, titled “Managing Shorelines as the Level of the Sea Rises Around Us! – A Geologist’s View,” is free and open to all interested students and faculty members.

Pilkey also directs the Program for the Study of Developed Shorelines at Duke University. From his research, he has published more than 150 technical publications. He is the coauthor of a book, A Celebration of Barrier Islands, to be published later this year.

The UD Department of Geology, the College of Marine Studies and the Delaware Academy of Science are sponsoring the event.
