Delaware's Sailer selected CAA Player of the Week
11:25 a.m., Dec. 13, 2002--Julie Sailer, a sophomore on the University of Delaware womens basketball team, was named Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 9.
Julie Sailer
Sailer returned to action last week after a bout with the flu and led the Blue Hens (2-3) to their first two wins of the season. She scored a season-high 16 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in last Wednesday's 63-47 win over St. John's and dropped in 16 points to go along with seven rebounds and a career-high three steals in Sunday's 71-45 drubbing of Bucknell. She is Delaware's leading scorer at 14.0 points per game.
This is the second time in her career that Sailer has been named CAA Player of the Week. She was honored last January after leading the Blue Hens to wins over George Mason (72-62) and James Madison (58-50). In the two wins, she averaged 16.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game.
The Blue Hens return to action Monday, Dec. 23, when they play host to Marist. Tip-off will be at 2 p.m.
