Art collector Paul R. Jones hosts 'Paul & Pizza' event

More than 70 students and faculty members met and chatted with art collector Paul R. Jones Thursday, March 21, at an event appropriately titled “Paul & Pizza.”

James Brewer, a UD student and a drum major in the Marching Band, delivers Pizza Hut pizzas (cheese and pepperoni) to Paul R. Jones for “Paul & Pizza.”

The art collector opened his Newark home to the UD community and regaled them with stories of his work as a collector and the artists he has come to know. Students munching on pizza and sipping sodas questioned the collector about his life and career.

The first exhibition of works from the Paul R. Jones Collection, which he donated to UD a year ago, is on view through March 28 at the University Gallery. Entitled “Original Acts,” the show features photographs from the collection of African-American performers.

Pizza for “Paul & Pizza” was donated by Pizza Hut on Elkton Road. Pizza Hut sells pizza on campus at Delaware Stadium and The Bob.
